Kolkata police commissioner Vineet Kumar Goyal on Wednesday issued a traffic advisory in view of Eid ul Adha (Bakrid) on June 29, Thursday.

Whereas it is necessary for preventing danger, obstruction or inconvenience to the public in connection with the ID-UZ-ZOHA (Bakr-ld) festival on 29th June, 2023, subject to the visibility of the Moon, I, Vineet Kumar Goyal, Commissioner of Police, Kolkata, in exercise of powers vested in me under Section 115, 117, 122 and 126 M V Act, 1988 and Section 62, 62(1b) of Calcutta Police Act./ 39, 39(1b) of Calcutta Suburban Police Act read with Rule No. 85, 86, 87, 88 and 93 of Rules for the Regulations of Traffic in Kolkata and its suburbs and under sub-section (1) of Section 4 of the West Bengal Traffic Regulations Act, 1965 (W B Act XV of 1965) read with Govt. of West Bengal Home (Transport) Department Order No. 7605-WT, dated the 20th July, 1965 and Govt. of West Bengal Transport Department Notification No. 3363-WT/ 3M- 34/99, dated the 29th April, 1999, do hereby order that all classes of vehicles and all kinds of traffic including pedestrian traffic to the following areas and all the following thoroughfares or portions thereof shall be regulated in the manner prescribed below, notwithstanding any other orders in force on 29.06.2023.

1) a) Movement of all Heavy goods vehicles & Medium goods vehicles (except LPG Vehicles, Vegetable, Fruits & Milk carrying vehicles) shall be restricted within Kolkata Police jurisdiction from 04.00 hrs to 22.00 hrs on 29.06.2023 (except Kolkata Dock System).

b) Heavy goods vehicles, Medium goods vehicles and Light goods vehicles for Kolkata Dock System will not find entry from 04.00 hours till 12.00 hours on 29.06.2023.

c) i) Movement of all categories of Light goods Vehicles in the city (except Kolkata Dock System) shall be restricted from 04.00 hours to 12.00 hours & 16.00 hours to 20.00 hours on 29.06.2023.

ii) Movement of Light Goods Vehicle will be restricted from 04.00 hrs. to 14.00 hrs. and

16.00 hrs. to 20.00 hrs. on 29.06.2023 along the following roads:-

1. Garden Reach Road from Ram Nagar crossing up to Dr. A K Road. 2. Paharpur Road from Kachhi Sadak to Asbestos crossing

3. Akra Road 4. Railway Line

Road 5. Dr. A K Road

II) Entire Red Road will be closed for all types of vehicular traffic from 22.00 hrs on 28.06.2023 (before night of the congregation prayer day) till 12.00 hrs on 29.06.2023 or till the end of the program.

Vehicles of all descriptions including Tram Cars will be temporarily suspended or diverted from the following roads and approaches from 04.00 hrs to 12.00 hrs according to the direction of traffic police on duty on 29.06.2023--

1) Manicktala Main Road.

2) Narkeldanga Main Road.

3) Gas Street.

4) RG Kar Road.

5) APC Roy Road between Girish Bidyaratna Lane and Kali Shome Street and Manicktala crossing up to M G Road crossing.

6) MN Chatterjee Street,

7) Raja Dinendra Street and Raja Raj Narayan Street crossing.

8) Raja Dinendra Street between Garpar Road and Gas Street

9) North Sealdah Road.

10) Kashinath Dutta Road

11) Khagen Chatterjee Road

12) Lock Gate Road.

13) Indra Biswas Road

14) Gopal Mukherjee Road

15) JK Ghosh Road.

16) Belgachia Road

17) Federation Street

18) Beliaghata Rly. Bridge from Bibi Bagan Lane crossing to Palmer Bazar Road crossing

19) Convent Bridge up to CIT Road crossing and Chatubabu Lane (Full)

68) Topsia Road from C N Roy Road crossing, north bound

69) Kustia Road from Picnic Garden Road crossing, north bound

70) Masjid Bari Lane from Tiljala Road crossing, east bound

IV) As the Bus Stand at Esplanade Complex will in no way be disturbed, the temporary removalwill not be necessary. Entry will be via New Road, Dufferin Road and Exit will be via R R Avenue ITram track etc, to avoid conflict between pedestrians and buses.

V) Movement of Tram Cars on Lenin Sarani between Esplanade crossing and R A KidwaiRoad will be stopped as soon as people start arriving on Lenin Sarani.

VI) Vehicular traffic may also be diverted from any of the arterial and I or feeder roads by thetraffic police on duty as and when considered necessary on 29.06.2023.

VII) These regulations will be enforced in addition to the other normal restrictions on the day,which are not repugnant to the above.
